Pinellas County Hazardous Materials Response Team

Palm harbor Fire Rescue is 1 of 5 Pinellas County Fire Departments who form the Pinellas County Hazardous Materials Response Team.  This team is compromised of specially trained firefighters who respond to a variety of incidents from rail car derailment, bio terrorism, tanker truck accidents, radiation spills or anything involving toxic substances.  Pinellas County supports 18 Palm Harbor Firefighters of various ranks to be certified Hazardous Materials Technicians on the PCHMRT.  Each individual takes part in many hours of training year round to maintain proficiency in the varied responses that the Hazmat Team may be presented with.  Station 66 is where the Hazmat Truck is stationed, and houses many of our specialized tools like our gas meters, decontamination processes, chemical testing agents and air monitoring.
